There’s nothing better than a relaxing of sharing good movies and yummy snacks with your friends and family. So we invite you to be a guest at our movie night! There are some movies you may like and some you may hate, but snacks that we can all enjoy!

Krystal and Cecily’s Movie And Snack List

1. Twilight/New Moon

Okay, so i must admit, Krystal and i never thought we would be Twilight fans, we never read the books and thought the whole craze was odd. It actually wasn’t until we saw the first movie a second time with our cousin that we fell in love with the plot lines and the mystery. Twilight is one of those movies that has a little bit of everything, it’s exciting and interesting, romantic and dark, and very, very hilariously over dramatic (who really talks that breathy and serious? lol).  You will be mocking lines and making jokes about every scene, while your eyes are glued to the screen in anticipation of what will happen next. Both Twilight and New Moon are guilty pleasures that are just too bad to not be good…oh, the horror! A plus is that Twilight and New Moon are both packed with awesome music throughout the entire movies!

Puppy Chow
It has become a small tradition for Krystal and i to watch Twilight and/or New Moon while sharing a yummy bowl of puppy chow. “Puppy Chow”, or “Monkey Munch” as it is sometimes referred to, is a mix of Chex cereal, peanut butter, chocolate, and powdered sugar. Throw in some M&Ms and you got yourself a perfect sweet and crunchy movie! This recipe makes a huge batch of “chow”, so you will be just fine if your movie night extends into the early morning…it also makes a great breakfast snack! Yum!

2. Wish Upon A Star

You may not remember this made for tv movie that aired on none other than the Disney Channel back in the mid 90’s, but it became a favorite of ours as well as our cousins and friends. Wish Upon A Star, starring a young Katherine Heigl, is a movie about two sisters who don’t get along until they both wish upon a star and end up switching places. Think  “Freaky Friday” with a twist. We have this movie on tape and still to this day watch it, especially when we need some cheering up. It’s a feel good movie that is surprisingly not cheesy at all. Not sure that you can find this movie anymore except for maybe on e-bay or used on amazon, but it’s definitely worth checking out!

Semi-Homemade Candy Ice Cream
This is kind of our dad’s creation, a little treat that takes us back to our childhood, as does the above movie. So I think it’s quite a perfect movie night match. We call it semi homemade because the ice cream isn’t made in an ice cream maker but store bought and mixed with a bunch of goodies. It’s really simple: just buy your favorite vanilla ice cream, mix it with a tub of Cool Whip in a large mixing bowl (this will give the ice cream a “soft serve” consistency), add in crushed Oreo Cookies, Butterfingers, & M&M’s, and any other candy of your choosing, mix together, freeze and enjoy! A movie night snack that’s fun and very easy to whip up.

3. Penelope

Penelope is the type of movie you watch when you just find out that the guy you had been talking to for months is a selfish ding dong and you need some cheering up. This movie is not your typical love story, it’s about finding out who you are as a person, and realizing that you are beautiful just the way you are. It will also distract you from your urge to drive 6 hours and egg that guy’s junky car…perhaps i said too much? 😉 Seriously though, Penelope, starring Christina Ricci and Reese Witherspoon, is about a girl born with a, shall we say “un-human nose”, and her journey toward self acceptance. It’s a hilarious feel good movie that will get you thinking about how you see and value yourself.

Brownies
In my book, there’s nothing better than a rich, chocolatey brownie on movie night … or any night for that matter. With frosting or without, with walnuts or pecans, box mix or from scratch, however you make them, brownies are a delightful snack to accompany any movie.

Amanda and Amber’s Movie and Snack List

1. Signs

This is one of our favorite movies because of the sheer watch-ability. Upon the first viewing of “Signs,” in 2002, we wanted to watch it again as soon as it was over. And we did – it’s probably our second most viewed movie behind “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy. Love him or hate him, M. Night Shyamalan is a wonder of a director and the suspense, drama, and emotion he brings to “Signs” is something to behold. The message of this movie, delivered superbly by the cast, is one of the strongest messages of faith we’ve seen in a film.

Orville Redenbacher’s Natural Popcorn
Popcorn is probably the most universal movie snack. Can’t go wrong with it! We like Orville Redenbacher’s Natural popcorn because it’s light, healthy, and has a great natural taste to it. If you eat popcorn while watching “Signs,” make sure you hold on to your bowl tightly – you never know when something might jump out at you!

2. Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead

We like movies that make you think. We don’t always need the bells and whistles of an action packed, full-out adventure movie. While those flicks can be fun and entertaining, movies that provoke thought and interest are what we favor. Tom Stoppard’s screen adaption of his play, “Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead” is a gem of a film. Its witty and smart dialogue challenges you to think and keep up with the complex story-line. Gary Oldman and Tim Roth’s performances are brilliant – they play off of each other so well. While it may be not super popular, this is one movie you will definitely want to give a chance!

Archer Farm’s Organic Real Fruit Strips
Funnily enough, we ate these the night we first watched “Rosencrantz & Guildenstern.” They’re a great light snack and very tasty. They’re made organic, with real fruit juice, so they’re low in calories!

3. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy is highly famed and regarded as one of the best movie trilogies of all time. It’s no surprise: Director Peter Jackson brought to life J.R.R. Tolkien’s world full of adventure, memorable characters, and the ultimate story of good vs. evil.

Tortilla Chips and Salsa
This snack is a staple in our household. Whether it be a sports game or a good movie, extra thin tortilla chips with spicy Serrano salsa hits the spot!
